The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is a computer-based, worldwide English language assessment tool. Applications for PTE Academic are accepted worldwide for both students and immigration. Apart from its impartial method of assessment, the exam offers numerous distinct benefits.
The two-hour test consists of three main sections: reading, listening, and speaking and writing (completed together). In addition, there is an optional ten-minute interval between the reading and listening portions. There will be twenty distinct question types on the test, ranging from multiple choice to writing essays and information interpretation.
In order to pass the PTE exam, one should begin their preparation in accordance with their necessary goal, as the preparation may differ depending on the goal that must be met. Because everyone should be able to pass the exam, we at ETP PTE have designed our practice platform with that in mind.
ETP PTE offers exam booking on their official website, and PTE have test centers spread across more than 50 countries. Prior to anything else, students must register by making an account with ETP PTE. The exam is offered on a regular basis, and students can select their preferred day and time at the closest testing facility.
The fast and fair English test
PTE Home is a computer-based English test which is accepted by the UK Home Office as proof of language proficiency for several family and work visas and for settlement and citizenship.
It is a pass-fail test which assesses your speaking and listening skills.
There are three different levels depending on the requirements of your visa – A1, A2 or B1 – and the test duration is between 22 and 29 minutes.
To complete the test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer and a headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.
The test format
Each PTE Home test lasts under 30 minutes. During the test session, you will encounter a range of different question types. More information about each level can be found below, with a video showing the question types.
I am under 18 years old. Can I take the test?
PTE Home is only available to test takers who are over 18 years old.
Do I have to take PTE Home in my home country?
You can take it at any of our test centers around the world that offer PTE Home. Find your nearest test center. Make sure you check what type of ID you have to use.
Please check the ID Policy regarding the acceptable form of ID. If you are testing outside your home country, you will probably be asked to show your passport at the test center.
PTE Home tests are accepted by the UK Government for a variety of different visa categories. In addition to their unbiased approach to testing, the tests have many unique advantages.

The use of scoring technology means that it’s not simply a single human assessing your English language skills, but a very clever algorithm that mimics how expert human markers would score, based on many, many responses.

When you take the test, what you say is graded by AI against thousands of previous responses. What this means is that you’re graded only on what you say, not your accent or anything else.

Share your result with the UK Home Office automatically
Your score report will contain a Unique Reference Number (URN) which you should put on your visa application. The UK Government can use this number to securely access your result.

What ID should I bring?
PTE tests are taken in highly secure test centers, so it’s very important that we verify the identity of all of our test takers.
When you arrive to take your test, you must provide an acceptable identification document (ID).
In most cases, this ID will usually be your passport. If you do not have a passport, you may be able to use an alternative depending on your chosen PTE test. Please read our Acceptable ID guidance for more information.

A. Foreign students holding Student Visa of more than 180 days are
required to register himself/herself with the local FRRO/FRO within 14
days of arrival.

The work permit can vary from country to country. An international student in USA may start applying for an OPT permit after nine months of being enrolled in a university. In Canada, the postgraduate work permit allows international students to work for up to three years after graduating. In UK, under the graduate route, international graduates are able to apply for a PSW visa to stay on in the UK for a fixed period of either two or three years after the completion of their degree studies, depending on their level of study. In Australia, the PSW can range from 18 months to 7 years! It all depends on the program you choose to study in Australia.
Several scholarships are available to Indian students to avail themselves and fund their studies. There are Government-funded, non-Government scholarships and Institutional scholarships that the top universities in Canada provide for International Students.
While the requirements vary from country to country, here are a few common documents that are needed:

You should consider taking the IELTS Academic exam if you wish to pursue a university education overseas. The IELTS General Training module is required if you wish to move over to the UK, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand as well as live and work there.

To schedule an IELTS test, please get in touch with the testing location. Should you decide to postpone or cancel your application beyond five weeks prior to the test date, you will be refunded minus an administration fee. You will be charged the full cost if you postpone or cancel your test within five weeks of the scheduled date, unless you have an emergency. You will be reimbursed minus the local administrative expense if, within five days of the test date, you present a medical certificate attesting to your serious medical condition that prevents you from attending. If an unforeseen event (like a transportation strike) causes you to be late, the testing facility might provide you with a test for the following available date.
The Notice to Candidates included with the IELTS Application Form contains test regulations and instructions. Depending on what works best for you, many of our testing locations let you select whether to finish all four test components on test day or just the Speaking component on a different day. Prior to tackling the Reading and Writing sections of the test, you will complete the Listening section.

When can I take an IELTS test?
IELTS on paper is available on 48 fixed dates a year up to four times a month, while IELTS on computer can be available on any day of the week, depending on local demand.
How much does an IELTS test cost?
IELTS has a set fee for its test. The Academic and General Training tests are the same cost. When you apply online, you will be told the fee.
What help is available for IELTS test takers with visual, hearing, speaking or learning difficulties?
Our official British Council IELTS test centres can help if you have visual, hearing, speaking or learning difficulties. If you need a modified version of IELTS, please be aware that you are required to provide medical evidence to support your claim. The medical report should be written in English and within a period of two years before the test date, by a medical professional and needs to be provided six weeks prior to the test.
What can I bring into the IELTS test room?
Only pens, pencils and erasers. You must bring the passport/national identity card you used on the IELTS Application Form to the test. You must leave everything else outside the testing room. Mobile phones, pagers and electronic devices of any kind must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor. If you do not switch off your phone/pager or any other electronic devices, or keep it on you, you will be disqualified. Personal watches are not allowed in the test room.
Which part of the IELTS test do I take first?
You will take the Listening test first, followed by the Reading and Writing tests (there are no breaks between these tests). Your Speaking test will be held either on the same day or seven days before or two days after that, depending on local arrangements.
Is the IELTS test completed in one day?
The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are always completed immediately after each other and with no break. The Speaking test will be held either on the same day or seven days before or two days after that, depending on local arrangements.
If you take IELTS Online, the Speaking test will usually be before your Listening, Reading and Writing. It could be on the same or a different day.
When will I receive my IELTS test results?
You will receive your results 13 days after the test date if you have taken IELTS on paper, 3-5 days if you have taken IELTS on computer and 6-8 days if you have taken IELTS Online.
If you have taken IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration (on paper), you can view your results 13 days after your test, and 3-5 days if you have taken IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration (on computer).
Some test centres also provide SMS alerts and an Online Results Service.
Can I check my IELTS test results online?
Yes, you will receive an email notification with a link to view your IELTS scores.
How are IELTS tests marked?
IELTS uses a 9-band scoring system to measure and report test scores in a consistent manner. You receive individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine.
Who sets the pass mark for the IELTS test?
There is no pass or fail in IELTS. Scores are graded on the 9-band system. Each educational institution or organisation sets its own level of IELTS scores to meet its individual requirements.
What if I am not satisfied with my IELTS result?
If you wish to make an enquiry about your test results, or have any section of the test re-marked, you can submit an Enquiry on Results (EOR) request up to six weeks after your test date.
You can do this online through the Test Taker Portal or at the centre where you sat your test. There is a charge for having a section re-marked, but this will be refunded if your score increases for any section of the test.
The outcome of Enquiry on Result (EOR) can become available on the same day as your application and up to 21 days after your application. The time it takes depends on several factors, including the number of sections you’ve asked us to re-mark.
IELTS One Skill Retake
IELTS One Skill Retake allows you get your desired test score without retaking the full test. If you want to improve your score on one test skill, you can retake any of the four IELTS skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking within 60 days of your original test date. This is currently only available for IELTS on Computer bookings.
How do I send a copy of the Test Result Form to an organisation?
We can send up to five additional copies of your Test Report Form directly to institutions you are applying to (for instance universities, immigration officers, etc.) If you would like us to do this, please include the relevant addresses on the Test taker portal within two years of taking the test. Some universities or institutions have subscribed to electronic download of scores, so please make sure you check with your local test centre before sending them your results.
What do I do if I lose my Test Report Form?
Test Report Form (TRF) is valid for two years. Copies cannot be sent to test takers but we will send a TRF to your relevant institution or embassy. Up to five copies will be sent free of charge. Additional copies will incur a small administration charge. Talk to your test centre for further details.
