What is IELTS ?
The IELTS is a test of English language proficiency that is necessary for those who wish to study or migrate to English-speaking countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia. It serves as a gateway for individuals to gain admission to educational institutions or relocate to an English-speaking country.
The IELTS exam opens up a plethora of opportunities for students and professionals who aspire to study or live abroad. Furthermore, the IELTS test facilitates students’ admission to globally recognized universities and educational institutions, and it can also pave the way for permanent residency in the respective country.
Exam Types
There are four types of IELTS exams available globally:
- IELTS Academic: This exam is required for students who are applying for postgraduate studies or professional programs.
- IELTS General Training: This exam is designed for individuals planning to relocate to English-speaking nations like Australia, Canada, the UK, or New Zealand. It’s also suitable for students seeking to participate in training or work overseas.
- IELTS Life Skills: This exam is for students who need to demonstrate their English competence at Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) Levels A1, A2, or B1.
- IELTS for UKVI: The Academic version of this test is for students aiming to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the UK or seeking professional registration in the UK. The General Training version is for those planning to migrate to the UK and undertake training or study at a level below a degree.

Cancellation Fee for IELTS
If you wish to cancel your IELTS exam for any reason, there are certain conditions you must meet to get a refund. However, you should be aware that there is cancellation fees associated with cancelling the IELTS test.
- If an examinee cancels their IELTS reservation more than five weeks prior to the test date, they will receive a refund, but a 25% administrative fee will be deducted.
- If an examinee cancels the IELTS test less than five weeks before the test date, they will not be eligible for a refund.
- If an examinee does not show up for the IELTS test, it will be considered a cancellation and they will not receive a refund.
- Examinees that can provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date may be eligible for a refund, but the local administrative cost will be deducted.

Rescheduling Fees for IELTS Exam
If you wish to reschedule your IELTS exam, here are the steps and conditions:
- You must submit a rescheduling request at least five weeks before your scheduled test date. This will be subject to a cancellation/postponement fee.
- You should choose a new test date within three months of your original test date.
- An administrative fee of Rs 3,300 (inclusive of all taxes) will be charged for the test date transfer.
- You are allowed to reschedule your IELTS exam only once.
- If you fail to appear for the IELTS test on the rescheduled date, you will not be eligible for any refund or further rescheduling options.
