Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program is a test organised over the globe for evaluating the proficiency of an individual in English Language.
CELPIP – General Test ($280) + Taxes

The Duolingo English Test is a tool that measures your English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. As you navigate through this adaptive test, the complexity of the questions fluctuates based on your responses. Besides multiple-choice questions, you’ll also respond to open-ended queries to evaluate your English communication abilities. All your responses are graded by the computer. Additionally, you have the option to participate in a video interview and provide a writing sample.
For those contemplating studying abroad, many U.S. colleges and universities necessitate evidence of English proficiency from potential international students. This test has emerged as a favored substitute to the SAT, ACT, or TOEFL for this requirement.
Duolingo exam pattern: Know about the different sections
The Duolingo English test pattern 2023 is divided into two sections.
- Adaptive Test – Graded Portion: This part includes speaking, writing, listening, and reading exercises for the adaptive test.
- Video Interview – Ungraded Portion: This component includes a written sample and a video interview.
A unique feature of the DET exam pattern is that one of the sections is adaptive in nature. This means that the difficulty level of the questions will increase with every correct answer and the difficulty level will decrease with every wrong answer.
The SQA and PSI created and quality-assured English test skills for people whose first language is not English. SQA is aligned with robust and internationally recognized qualification systems. This ensures that skills for English tests are of the highest standard for both candidates and institutions.
The tests cover six levels (A1, A2, 81, 82, C1, and C2), which map to the Common European Framework of Reference.
Many organizations, including governments, higher education institutions, and university pathway suppliers, have trustworthy and recognized English exam skills.
The United Kingdom Government, specifically the Home Office’s UK Visas and Immigration division, has authorized English language skills for visa applicants. This includes work, student, and spouse visas. All Skills for English examinations have been certified by the Irish Department of Justice for study visa applications.
Skills for English assessments are widely used in higher education institutions around the world. Currently, over 140 institutions in the UK accept Skills for English (SELT), with hundreds more worldwide.
SELT can be used to acquire entry to a number of pathway provider courses, allowing test takers to access even
Northern Consortium UK, Study Group, INTO, Kaplan, QA Higher Education, and Malvern House all accept Skills for English qualifications.
LanguageCert International ESOL offers a range of English language certifications that align with the CEFR standards, ensuring the highest levels of quality and reliability. Students have the flexibility to select the certification level they are comfortable with. Upon successful completion of the exams, they are granted the respective certifications.
The following two examinations are provided at each level, from A1 to C2, to assess all four-language abilities:
- LanguageCert International ESOL Written Exam (Listening, Reading, Writing)
- LanguageCert International ESOL Spoken Exam (Speaking)
Candidates have the flexibility to take the Written and Spoken Exams separately, according to their convenience. These are distinct tests, allowing students to concentrate on preparing for one exam at a time.

Exam Format:
The “Written Test” includes sections on Listening, Reading, and Writing, and can be taken in a paper-based format.
The “Oral Test” involves a brief discussion with a conversation partner on topics that children find interesting, like their family, hobbies, or everyday situations.
