The four pie charts compare how often Australians in different age groups watch online videos.
Overall, younger adults tend to watch online videos far more frequently than older individuals, while the habit declines noticeably with age.
For people aged 25–34, 39% watch videos daily and 29% at least once a week, showing the highest level of engagement. Only 18% of this group rarely or never watch. Among those aged 35–44, daily viewers fall to 26%, and 32% report rarely or never watching videos, indicating a moderate decline in frequency.
In contrast, only 16% of individuals aged 45–59 watch daily, while nearly half (49%) rarely or never do so. The trend is even more evident among the 60+ group, where just 8% view daily and 65% hardly ever engage in this activity.
In summary, online video watching in Australia is most popular among young adults and decreases significantly with increasing age.

In today’s digital age, mobile phones and computers are the main tools for communication. Although these devices have made it easier and faster to connect with others, I strongly agree that their overuse has negatively impacted people’s reading and writing abilities.
To begin with, constant use of digital communication has reduced the quality of writing. People rely on shortcuts, emojis, and auto-correct, which limit their awareness of spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. Expressions like “u” for “you” or “lol” for “laugh out loud” have become common, leading to a decline in formal writing skills.
In addition, reading habits have also changed. Many people prefer short online posts or social media updates instead of reading books or long articles. This habit promotes skimming rather than deep reading, affecting comprehension and vocabulary development. Prolonged screen time also causes fatigue, further reducing interest in reading.
While technology does offer opportunities through e-books and online platforms, most users engage in casual communication rather than serious reading or writing.
In conclusion, although mobile phones and computers have improved communication, I believe their excessive use has weakened people’s ability to write properly and read attentively.
